The Shelden Williams Foundation launches as the latest articulation of Shelden’s lifetime of giving back to the communities that have supported him.
Since childhood, Shelden has been committed to helping those in need. Shelden would often volunteer with his church as a youth, bringing resources to individuals experiencing homelessness and spending time to uplift the spirits of youth battling complex illnesses.
Throughout his career, Shelden has continued to show his appreciation for the opportunities his skills on the court have provided him by giving back to others. Shelden and his family have hosted meals for homeless, put on back to school events for youth in his community, led toy drives for area youth in need.
One of the landmark achievement of Shelden’s charitable work has been the the building and launch of a Life Center. In partnership with his church, Shelden and his childhood friend Matt Kemp (of the LA Dodgers) helped fund the launch of the Life Center, which offers classrooms, a kitchen, and of course a basketball court. The Life Center provides a venue for local youth and families to engage in services and activities that they might not otherwise be able to access.
With the Shelden Williams Foundation, Shelden and his family look to build on these activities with further programming targeted at creating opportunities for youth in the community that promote their educational achievement and allow them to develop their skills and passions.
